Across states, student teams are advancing this work through active advocacy and implementation. As core members of their campus communities, student organizers are best equipped to build awareness of the rights and options available to survivors under Every Voice laws.

On June 28, 2021, Governor Ned Lamont signed House Bill 6374 into law after a completely unanimous juncture in the Connecticut General Assembly. Every Voice CT, a student coalition leading advocacy for the passage of this bill, applauds this milestone and Connecticut's newest addition to anti-violence legislation.

After three years of student and survivor-led advocacy, on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, Hawaiʻi bill’s HB554 "Relating to Campus Safety" and HB580 “Relating to Victim-Counselor Privilege,” were signed into law by Governor Josh Green at a ceremony attended by Hawai’i students, anti-sexual violence advocates and legislators. The two bills are groundbreaking legislation addressing the epidemic of sexual violence at the University of Hawaiʻi, and both passed the legislature with widespread, bipartisan support.

On Monday, April 25th, after two years of student and survivor-led advocacy and stakeholder participation, Maine bill LD1727 "An Act Concerning Sexual Misconduct on College Campuses", passed through the Maine legislature with bi-partisan support. On Thursday, May 5th 2022, Governor Janet Mills signed LD1727, making Maine the SIXTH state in the country to pass an Every Voice Law.

On Monday, 7/20, Governor Chris T. Sununu signed HB 705, enacting key measures to combat sexual violence in New Hampshire incuding the Every Voice Bill, the first piece of legislation in New Hampshire history that is aimed specifically at curbing rape and sexual assault on college campuses. Previously, despite evidence that more than 1 in 10 college students in New Hampshire experience sexual assault, New Hampshire was one of thirty states with no laws in place addressing campus sexual violence. Now, New Hampshire has enacted one of the most comprehensive bills addressing campus sexual violence of any state in the country.

On Tuesday August 1st, Oregon bill HB3456 “Relating to sexual misconduct at institutions of higher education” was signed into law by Governor Kotek. HB3456, which passed the Oregon Legislature on Friday, June 23rd, is the most recent legislative initiative aimed at addressing the epidemic of sexual violence at institutions of higher education in Oregon and passed the legislature with widespread, bipartisan support. The bill’s final vote in the legislature occurred on the 51st anniversary of groundbreaking civil rights law Title IX, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education.
